Overview
What is Nutrova?
Nutrova is a Softrious in-house product that brings nutrition tracking and professional guidance into one app. Members log meals by snapping a photo, keep an eye on calories, macros, and water, and see which nutrients need attention. When they want real advice, they can search for a qualified nutritionist, book a video session, and chat—sharing logged meals so advice is based on what they actually eat. Nutritionists get their own view of clients, progress, and flags that need review. The project covers product strategy, an original identity, a dark interface designed in Figma, and a delivery plan for a React Native app backed by a .NET API.
The problem it explores
Nutrition apps are good at counting, but people are left alone with the numbers. Finding and booking a qualified nutritionist happens somewhere else, and advice is given without seeing what someone really eats. Logging is also slow, so people give up. Nutrova explores one place where fast tracking, tailored recommendations, and real expert support work together.

The challenge
What we set out to solve.
Design a nutrition app that is fast enough to use every day and personal enough to trust—where members can track meals and water, get tailored food recommendations, and reach a qualified nutritionist without leaving the app.
- 01Make meal and water logging take seconds, not minutes
- 02Help people find and book the right nutritionist easily
- 03Turn tracked data into tailored food recommendations
- 04Keep members and nutritionists in clear, ongoing contact

Who it’s for
The people Nutrova is designed around.
Every screen was shaped around these user profiles: what they need, what gets in their way, and what the product changes for them.

- Needs
- Understand what she’s eating and get advice she can trust.
- Frustration

- Photo meal logging, clear insights, and booked video sessions with a nutritionist.
Dr. Sam Patel
Registered nutritionist with a private practice
- Needs
- See clients’ real eating habits between sessions.

Brand identity
A name, mark, and palette made for daily check-ins.
Nutrova’s identity was created from scratch: a progress-ring-and-leaf mark, a lime-to-mint gradient on night green, and a warm, encouraging voice that never shames.
Logo
An open progress ring holding a leaf: the day’s goal, filled with real food.

Design decisions
Why it looks and works the way it does.
Dark by default
People log meals early and late. A night-green interface is easy on the eyes and lets food and progress colours stand out.
Colour means something
Each macro and water keep one colour on every screen, so charts, bars, and chips read instantly without labels.
Camera first
The scan button sits in the centre of the tab bar, because logging is the habit everything else depends on.
Two sides, one product
Members and nutritionists share the same data and chat, so advice is based on what people actually eat.
Proposed architecture
How we’d build it.
A cross-platform app on a .NET API, with image recognition for meals, a nutrition database, scheduling and video for sessions, and real-time chat between members and nutritionists.
- 1
Mobile app
React Native for iOS and Android, camera capture, offline-first diary, push reminders, and health-data sync
- 2
API
ASP.NET Core Web API for members, diaries, goals, nutritionists, bookings, and payments
- 3
Food intelligence
Image recognition for meal photos, barcode lookup, and a curated nutrition database with portion estimates
- 4
Care & messaging
Scheduling with time zones, video sessions, and real-time chat with shared meal cards
- 5
Recommendations
Rules and scoring on tracked nutrient gaps and goals, with nutritionist-approved recipes
Tech stack
Built with Flutter and Node.js.
React Native ships one iOS and Android codebase, ASP.NET Core powers the API and real-time chat, and every screen is designed and prototyped in Figma. Proposed stack for this product.

Approach
How we shaped it.
It follows the same delivery model we use for every client engagement.
- 01
Discovery
Align goals, define the product scope, and create a shared roadmap before engineering begins.
- 02
Design
Create a polished interface system, validate flows, and define the experience before code.
- 03
Engineering
Build with clear milestones, visible progress, and maintainable code from day one.
What it demonstrates
- End-to-end product thinking for a two-sided health app
- An original dark-theme identity: name, mark, palette, and food art
- Tracking, marketplace, booking, and messaging designed as one product
- A React Native and .NET delivery plan, designed in Figma
What we’d validate next
- Test photo logging accuracy and correction flow with a pilot group
- Validate nutritionist onboarding and credential checks
- Pilot booked sessions and chat with a small group of dietitians
Nutrova is a Softrious in-house product, designed and planned end to end by our team.
From the team
Behind the build.
“Most people quit food tracking within a week because logging is tedious. That shaped everything in Nutrova: snap a photo instead of typing, and make the nutritionist side genuinely useful, so advice is based on what people actually eat rather than what they remember. We designed the nutritionist dashboard as carefully as the member app.”
